Some may feel that sparknotes is a cheat website, but in reality it offers a lot of help in challenging texts. It is interactive as it provides little quizzes for the student to take to feel more comfortable with the text. This website is a great way to become more familiar with a text or to better understand a translation. It is perfect for high school English as sometimes the texts are going to be challenging to understand, and it will help the students to feel more comfortable. http://www.internet4classrooms.com/lang_mid.htm
This website is one that I have just found and never heard of before. But it offers almost 100 different activities that include defining words and identifying morals in a short story. It is a great interactive site that covers a bunch of different areas of English. This would be a perfect high school site to have my students use because there are so many options to have them get more involved with English. http://www.webenglishteacher.com/tchrweb.html
This is a teacher site that offers many links for many age groups. Teachers should look through these to get some ideas on how to run a lesson. It’s very helpful to see these ideas. This would work specifically for me because there are links dedicated to things such as technology integration as well as a link that is dedicated to lessons and handouts for 10th graders. http://www.englishcompanion.com/
Here is another teacher resource site. This one is unique because it still contains lessons and things of the sort to help me out specifically in high school English, but it is also a website to promote workshop classes and a blog. So it ultimately opens the door into many other areas that would be beneficial for me to be into while teaching high school English. http://jc-schools.net/tutorials/tools/english-hs.html
This website would be great for me to use in my field as it has links to grammar quizzes as well as comprehension quizzes. There is also a whole set of interactive links for students to use in order to ensure that they are meeting guidelines on comprehension. http://www.homeworkspot.com/high/english/
This website has a list of topics on the home page, and from there you can choose things such as American literature or even writing essays, and it will then send you to another link that will help you with your search and even walk you through some of the steps. This is a beneficial site not only to a teacher to use for planning, but also for students to use at home if they are stuck on a topic. http://school.discoveryeducation.com/schrockguide/arts/artlit.html
Here is yet another website that has many different options off of the home page to do things for students to understand further what they are reading. There are many different options here, and this is a great resource for me to use in my future classroom. http://quizhub.com/quiz/quizhub.cfm
This is an interactive website that has options for students to study for the SATs. This will help me immensely in high school to better prepare my classes to take this important exam. There are also other quiz options that are fun and will keep students interested. http://www.studyguide.org/
Created by a high school English teacher, this site is basically having an English tutor in your computer. You can look through the many resources already listed, or even ask a specific question in which there will be an answer with a link so you have to find it for yourself, but it offers guidance. This would be great to show my high school students. It promotes independent learning for them. http://eleaston.com/
This website is a great resource, as it has quizzes and other ideas that could implement into all ages, not just high school. But it is a good way to integrate some fun interactive games and quizzes to ensure understanding. It can be a teacher resource or interactive and there are options to make this appropriate for junior high to high school.
